Higher Secondary Years – Grades 11 and 12

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a challenging two-year curriculum for students in their last 2 years of school education. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities.

Your child will learn more than a collection of facts. The Diploma Programme prepares students for university and encourages them to:

  1. Ask challenging questions
  2. Learn how to learn
  3. Develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture
  4. Develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from other countries and cultures.

Students study six subjects selected from the subject groups. Normally three subjects are studied at a higher level and the remaining three subjects are studied at a standard level.

In addition to the 6 subjects studied, there are three compulsory requirements:

  1. Extended essay
  2. Theory of knowledge
  3. Creativity, Activity, Service

The grading system is criterion based (results are determined by performance against set standards, not by each student’s position in the overall rank order); validity, reliability and fairness are the watchwords of the Diploma Programme’s assessment strategy.

The IB works closely with universities in all regions of the world to gain recognition for the IB diploma.
